In dreams sad yesterdays cannot be found
Arising it breaks clouds which spot the sky
Until it wakes it will not be earth bound
A wounded bird will watch the morning dove
Then listen to her haunting sweet lament
Unable to join her in odes of love
With bitterness it cries out in torment
A wounded bird attempts to catch the air
Extending crooked wing at break of day
The morning sun eliminates despair
But when the moon appears hope fades away
A wounded bird awaits what is to come
Not knowing how to heal or how to mend
Its spirit flutters on and won’t succumb
As harsh winds blow it waits until day’s end.
Yet still this bird has found the strength to sing
Its heart beats strong despite its suffering
Arising it breaks clouds which spot the sky
Until it wakes it will not be earth bound
A wounded bird will watch the morning dove
Then listen to her haunting sweet lament
Unable to join her in odes of love
With bitterness it cries out in torment
A wounded bird attempts to catch the air
Extending crooked wing at break of day
The morning sun eliminates despair
But when the moon appears hope fades away
A wounded bird awaits what is to come
Not knowing how to heal or how to mend
Its spirit flutters on and won’t succumb
As harsh winds blow it waits until day’s end.
Yet still this bird has found the strength to sing
Its heart beats strong despite its suffering
