Defying all convention
Love grows fearlessly
You were born from love
At the end of summer’s life
Heart songs were your cries
Bringing autumn’s colored bough
The earth called your name
Integrated Child
Welcome and unwelcome life
Hatred blooms and coos
Some will call you “mixed.”
Some will call you other names
You define yourself.
Stand straight and grow strong
Life is not an easy road
Make this path your own.
Keep walking though you stumble
Journey child, grow strong!
Get up when they knock you down
With words, hands and fists
Rocks and pebbles can be kicked
Hateful words can die.
