Deliberately searching
Nearly reeling from
Exhaustion
Wanting so much to
Find what wouldn’t be
Found
Happiness?
Perhaps
Yesterday’s child looms
Smiling
This woman
Ready and wanting
Hands reaching
Surrounds herself with
Nothing
Embracing style
Saying, “My nights have been long”
Catalogs cover a bed
With no body
Credit cards shudder
As each new trend is
Born
She tells herself to
Take comfort in knowing
Desire is free.
Fashion holds her back.
The need to want and
Want more.
There is never enough
It will not satisfy
What’s joyful
It has always been right there
Waiting to be found
Looming
A child smiles fromWithin.
